– Ah. I like the right hook,
I like the right hook. – Right?
(group applauding) I’m a copy writer here at Vayner, I’ve been here about
four and a half years. – Oh gee, baby. – Oh gee. So I’ve always wanted to ask you– – Steelers fan? – Steelers fan, gotta get that out there. – One of our rare wins
this year for the Jets. – Yeah, unfortunately, I remember that. (laughter) So, I watch you answer
dozens, literally dozens of questions over the
years about everything from family to business to
wine, I was always curious, what is one question that you’re shocked nobody’s ever asked you before? – That’s a good question, the truth is, people have asked me this
exact question before, I guess it’s never been on film. (laughter) And since I’ve answered
thousands of questions, not “dozens.” – Maybe more. (laughter) – The funny thing is, even though I think I get a lot of credit for being able to answer questions immediately
(fingers snapping) when I don’t know what they are and they come from so many different directions. I’m trying to figure out the
psychology behind this answer, it is very intriguing
to me that I don’t know how to answer this question at all, right? I don’t know if I’m so pure about loving Q and A that
like, I don’t even know, I’m never prepared for a
question, there’s nothing I, look, I definitely don’t
struggle with telling the world things that I wanna say,
so there’s no question I need for me to be able to communicate something that I want to say. For a little while there, and
I think the #AskGaryVee show has helped it, and definitely
that post I did the other day about, “Here’s how you
build your personal brand.” And it was like, “Just shut the fuck up “for 10 years and build something.” I don’t think it’s that,
it’s not that I’m surprised nobody’s ever asked me questions, I do wish that more people asked me hardcore business building questions. I think that people wanna go towards the motivation and the vision
and things of that nature, but hardcore tactical, like how
do you staff, against a P&L? Like the stuff that I actually
do that’s super nerdy. I mean, I’m sure the reason
people don’t ask me it is because it is super
nerdy, it’s not as sexy, it’s not the sizzle, it’s
clearly the boring slab of steak. But for me, I take so much pride in being an operator, I take enormous
pride in being able to build two businesses now,
in a young business career, that have both grown from a
small base to 50 million dollars in revenue in 36 months, that
just doesn’t happen a lot. Especially in a non-funded environment, neither company got
money to do it, so it was all its own growth and using
its own cash flow to do, which makes three year growth
so much more difficult. So I guess I’m not doing a
good enough job portraying that part of my career to
induce that type of audience to ask me those kind of questions.

Seahawks lost, and I bet $225. I’ve listened to Drake, The Weeknd, Jhene Aido, and even PartyNextDoor, but the pain is too much. How do I cope?” – Casey, I hear you man. I’ve got a couple pieces of advice. You should probably do what I do, which is heavy rotation of two songs. One from Bone Thugs n
Harmony and one from T Swift. Put those on loop, back and forth, go about seventeen T
Swift, seven Crossroads, you know, seven more T Swift. Kind of like seventeen,
seven, sevens are good. Listen to them on repeat. Drown your sorrows. Then take the pain, and put it in this very special compartment. Right? Put the pain in a compartment and build on that pain. Every time you have pain, put it in there, and let that be an engine for the revenge that you will strike against your enemies. That’s what I’m doing in football. Question of the day:

“Gary, I’ve got a question for you. Who is the historical
figure you would have lunch with if you could? And why?” – Lex, great question. First and foremost, two things. One, Lex I really think you
should put a URL in your Instagram account so it links out and two, the VaynerNation you should
check out is Instagram it’s a tremendous, tremendous
effort, great pictures. We’re rolling with heavy
truth in episode 64. The answer to this question is nobody. And I really, really, really
hate giving it because if I’m on the other side
of this camera, I’m looking at that and saying, you
think you’re so great that there’s nobody you want to meet and weirdly there’s
probably a truth to that. It is actually fundamentally,
completely insane how little energy I have of
meeting anybody all the time. There’s plenty of people I
find ridiculously fascinating. Winston Churchill, is
super high and interesting. Randy The Macho Man Savage
is a big one for me. Pete Rozelle, the former
NFL commissioner I just read his book, I don’t read a lot of books, when me and Lizzy went away in November. I’m up to 9 or whatever. Walt Disney is interesting, story telling. There’s people interesting but it’s crazy. If you said, you could have
dinner with any historical figure, we’re talking
Abraham Lincoln, Walt Disney, or the Jets could be, not playing in the Superbowl,
that’s not where I’m going. You could be in August right
now and watching the Jets first pre-season game, I’d
rather do the Jets’ pre-season game. Think about how insane that is. Pre-season I said. There’s something really
broken with me and I think it comes from ego DNA. I do. Or it just speaks to a theme
that a lot of you know which is I’m like this. I’d rather look at Christin’s
Twitter account for 19 minutes and bring that value to the
people that have bestowed in me the interest in
paying attention to me than for me to go and spend
a nice meal and drink some nice wine with Joseph Stalin
so I can tell him he’s a piece of crap. I don’t feel it, I’ve never
felt it, I have no interest. Just super not interesting for me. Question of the day. Which historic figure would
you like to have dinner with?

politely get rid of it?” – Austin, when somebody gives
me a horrible glass of wine, I have no version that is
polite in response to such a negative action. I’m just kidding. You know, I don’t know. My mom crushed it, I mean, we’ve talked
a lot about her, like, it’s very easy, it comes very
natural for me to be polite, I really took a lot of
pride in being the anti-snob in the wine world, and for me to be, like, this is crap, you know, I’m always using the
hedge terminology of, like, oh thanks, by the way, if you like this, you should really try this, and
that’s kind of my polite way of saying, this is crap.
You should check this out, you’re gonna like it a hell of a lot more, and by the way, it doesn’t offend me, and I also, you know, listen,
there is a big part of me that loves tasting crap wine,
because it gives me context. It’s one of the reasons I
like following so many of you on social media. So many of you are putting
out such crap content, it reminds me what is good content. And I know that sounded harsh, and I know a lot of you
are like, “wooo,” right. I know it’s a rule to
not diss your audience, I’m coming to you with straight love,

“is the #AskGaryVee show “your version of meditation? “It seems like it helps you
organize your thoughts.” – Charles, this is a really good question, I saw this one come through the stream, and it took me a step back,
because I’m like, “does it?” What I can tell you is this,
I think the brilliance of the #AskGaryVee Show, when
the business historians look back at it is (laughs) so awesome, any way, when people look
back, when I look back, when the team looks back, when
you, the collective audience, looks back, when you, the person
that’s watching this video three years from now, looks
at this show and realize, when I was on it was, we’ve created this show
as a foundation point to all the other content
that I’m putting out, and so the ability to use
this show that then allows India and Steve to help me
write Medium forum content, I mean, I think all of you have seen that over the last six to eight weeks, my ability to pump out Medium
and GaryVaynerchuk.com animated gifs, all these things all coming
from this central seed, so the ability to put out this show, which brings a lot of
value to a lot of people, it’s one great jab at the highest levels, for people who know what I’m referring to, and then it’s also a
gateway drug to more content that is content made to be
gateway drugs to awareness about me and to create leverage. It’s just one big machine of brilliance.

– [Voiceover] Evan asks, “If
you could clone yourself, “would you?” – Evan, this is a tremendous question, and a great one to end the year. Especially ’cause I
announced that I’m going away with my family for two weeks. This is as easy a
question as they’ve come. I would 100%, I mean this is the best, I really wish this technology existed because I would take
that person, Gary Two. Who is actually Gary Two? The clone version, or? Anyway, I would take the clone version and I would make that person spend every waking moment with my family. They’d sit at home, you guys, what’s that? (laughs) Why is that funny? – [Steve] I thought it was a nice answer. – [DRock] I would send
the first one first. – What’s that? – [DRock] I would send yourself. – Oh, I don’t care. Keep this rolling by
the way, first of all. No editing here. No, no, I don’t think you understand. The fact of the matter is
is they’re the same person. Are you saying that, no but listen, maybe that was
an insight that we didn’t, maybe I love my business
more than my family. Sorry, this is a tough way
to end the show and the year. The bottom line is, sorry
that DRock has become the cynical one, but, Steve, the torch has been passed, I would take the equal version of it and have that person
sit at home every minute and be with my family because then I would be able to accomplish the
two things that I want at one time, and so that
would be the answer. (laughs)

TV, 89 Daily Grape. Oh by the way, this is
gonna pass Daily Grape at some point pretty soon. That is the fun fact, that
I have actually had three, I would say I have two shows, it’s actually three. Anyway, sorry. Me and Steve nerding a
little bit about wine. The answer is I don’t. I’ve watched some of my video stuff because I’m showing somebody some stuff. As a matter of fact, now that DRock, Staphon are in my life, they
make me watch edited things. We have a big new edited video up today. Sorry, DRock, I guess we
decided we’re launching it today. Ah ha! So now I have actually seen
some of my longer form stuff ’cause I have to like look
at it ’cause it’s edited, but I know what I do on the show. I’m living it. So no, I don’t watch the show.
